Alcohol increases the risk of cataract development. According to a Swedish research, the risk of cataract increases by 11% in women consuming alcohol. After undergoing a cataract surgery, the doctors also advise the patient to quit alcohol because it can interfere with the working of medications that are being used to heal the opening in the cornea.
