This prescription lotion hit the market in 2009. It works by clogging a louse’s breathing apparatus, leading to asphyxiation, but it doesn’t kill nits.
At least two applications of this lotion are needed. In a clinical trial, 75% of participants were lice-free after 14 days of the second application. This lotion can be used by patients six months of age and older, but It may cause skin and eye irritation.
Apply lotion on dry scalp and hair, wait 10-15 minutes and rinse out in a sink. You can shampoo afterward, and use a nit comb to remove nits and dead lice.
