Use lindane-containing shampoos as a last resort

Lindane is a neurotoxin that kills lice and their nits. But humans are susceptible to this carcinogen. Misuse or overuse of Lindane may cause various side effects and lead to seizures and death. It can still cause seizures in some people, even if it is used according to directions.

It is no longer recommended by the Pediatrics to kill lice and is not considered suitable for the elderly, children, or a person who weighs 110 pounds or less than that. It is only recommended for people who cannot tolerate other treatments or if other remedies are failed. Use it as directed by your physician.
