Swelling Or Tenderness
Knee arthritis can sometimes lead to inflammation. With OA, this may be:
Hard swelling, which occurs due to the formation of bone spurs.
Soft swelling, as inflammation leads to the accumulation of extra fluid around the joint.
Swelling is usually more noticeable when you are inactive for a long time period, like when you wake up in the morning. Joint swelling is most common with RA, as it is an inflammatory disease. Patients with RA may also experience other symptoms, such as tiredness, fever, and a general feeling of being unwell. The main reason behind this is that RA is a systemic disease, which means it has an effect on the whole body. OA, meanwhile, only affects the involved joint.
