Eye makeup is the one thing that can lead to a dry eye as well as aggravate dry eyes which are already dry. Almost every woman wears eye makeup if not every single day then on special occasions. One of the major reasons behind makeup leading to dry eye is the fact that makeup products thin out the outer oily layer of the tear film allowing a much rapid evaporation of tears naturally. When you wear makeup on your eyes especially glitters or powder shadows, the loose particles can lead to the tearing of eyelid film and cause tears to evaporate too rapidly. Consequently, the dry eyes develop along with painful sensation and irritation. The irritation and dry eyes make it impossible to wear any makeup product on your eyes as well.
