Salicylic acid
Salicylic acid is an organic compound used for treating acne. This acid is a gentle chemical exfoliating agent. Salicylic acid contains Salicylate, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Salicylic acid causes the skin to shed the upper layer of cells, which help in preventing clogging pores. As evident by its mechanism of action, it is used for the treatment of non-inflammatory acne. The rate of new breakouts can be decreased by using salicylic acid. Because salicylic acid is an organic compound and it can easily dissolve in oils it can penetrates deep into the skin and unclog closed pores. It also finds use in treating acne scars. Salicylic can cause irritation and tingling as a side-effect.
