What Causes Acne?
Skin being the largest organ can be affected by a number of metabolic occurrences. It maintains a constant interface with the environment, which also exposes it to multiple factors that can affect its normal biological and chemical configuration. Acne arises as a result of chemical reactions; the following four entities integrate together in pathological ways to cause acne. [6]
Bacteria
Bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes, feeds on the sebum and fatty acid secreted by sebaceous glands. It is a part of normal dermal flora, but in the presence of underlying disturbances, its replication supersedes the normal balance and cause acne.
