Mechanism behind development of colon cancer
Most cases of colon cancer begin as benign growth of tissue. These tissues of excessive growth are termed as polyps. In a multistep process, the polyps can become malignant. This malignant potential is a result of accumulation of different mutations, which arise due to uncontrollable division of cells. However, not all polyps are cancerous. A brief review of type of polyps is discussed as follows.
