What Is Gynecomastia? How Does It Affect Men and Boys?

There are two types surgeries for treating gynecomastia.

Liposuction

Liposuction
Liposuction

Liposuction is the removal of body fats with the help of suctioning techniques. Liposuction is an effective and efficient technique for the treatment of gynecomastia. During the procedure, local anesthesia is given to the patient and a small incision is made in the area for the suction of fat with the help of cannula. The cannula is connected to a vacuum which sucks all the excess fat in the region. This technique not only removes the excessive body fat, but also contours and shapes the area around the breast. Advancement in technology has helped the surgeon to remove excess amount of fat, with the least area for incision. Liposuction shows significant results as long as the patient maintains the body weight, balanced diet and exercise regularly, which helps to strengthen the chest tissues and keeps them in proper figure.

Recovery

Due to involvement of less area for incision, the healing time is also less. However, the doctors can keep you under observation for several hours, or in some cases, overnight, in order to check your healing abilities. After the procedure you might feel some sort of pain and swelling in the area, but it will go away after a little while. The surgeon will prescribe you painkillers in order to relief pain and antibiotics to avoid the infection. The surgeon will also advise to wear tight clothing in order to reduce swelling. You might be able to perform the daily activities properly after a week.
