HIV/AIDS is a global disease affecting 88 million people around the world. People living with HIV are diagnosed with a range of health conditions, including hemolytic uremic syndrome. This condition is caused by a bacterial infection that leads to a high rate of blood clotting and bleeding. In the US, it usually results from a bacterial infection called E. coli.

Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is a well-known complication of the AIDS virus. In many cases, it has been associated with severe inflammation and multiorgan failure within 30 days of onset.
