People with hemolytic uremic syndrome can get irritable for a variety of reasons. Some patients experience extreme irritability and are very difficult to be around at times. I would imagine this is quite distressing for you and your loved ones. It develops due to deficiency in glucose (a form of sugar or carbohydrates) in the blood due to frequent bloody diarrhea. The irritability may last from several weeks up to a year.
