Heart arrhythmias
The electrolyte and ion imbalance, in severe cases can cause disturbance in electrical conduction pathway of the heart as it disrupts normal membrane potential of conducting membranes and may present with an abnormal ECG. Heart murmurs and fibrillation can also be traced to the ionic signaling pathway initiated by the toxic breakdown products of lactose in the large intestine.
