If you have a sweet tooth for confectionaries it will break your heart a little to know that you need to avoid the following items to keep your gut happy. “Know what you eat” is the simplest strategy you can adopt in this regard. A lot of processed food items contain lactose in trace amounts. While adding these items to your trolley at grocery, you should carefully read the label on these food items as they are likely to contain lactose that may cause symptoms if you are particularly sensitive to lactose. The labels reading powdered milk, whey, condensed milk, or milk sugars just mean the same as lactose. Though quite similar in name, the terms lactic acid, lactate or lactalbumin have no association to lactose and are safe to consume. The culprit, lactose can be as easily found in packaged food items as in milk. The following items should be refrained from using in meals.

Instant soups and gravy sauces may contain lactose sugar.
