The inflammation of the skin surface resulting from any medical condition or due to specific cosmetic procedures also becomes a cause of developing melasma. Some cosmetic procedure such as laser treatments or chemical peels sometimes causes inflammation of the skin surface. When this inflamed skin comes in contact with prolonged sun exposure, then the melasma symptoms start appearing.
