What is melasma?

Enlargement Of Melanin Cells

The enlargement of melanin cells is another symptom of melasma patients in the chronic stages. Melanin production is a multistage process of chemicals going on in the body and is known as melanogenesis. In the process of melanogenesis, the oxidation of tyrosine, an amino acid, happens, which then follows the polymerization of tyrosine. After polymerization, melanin skin pigment comes into being in the melanocytes. Due to some inflammation in the skin tissues, the melanin cells starts increasing in size, which results in increased production of melanin.
