What Is Skin Cancer?

Weak Immune System

Weak Immune System

It is indeed possible that a strong immune system might be playing an important role in regularly fighting off cancer or pre-cancer cells. The body has a mechanism of filtering out cancer cells to prevent visible cancer from occurring. This is known as the eliminating phase, where immune cells control the tumor and are removing them.

Therefore, a weak immune system has more chances of acquiring skin cancer.  People with weak immune systems are more likely to develop SCC than people with a healthy immune system.  This includes people with a medical condition that reduces the immune system’s function, including the people with HIV and the one receiving chemotherapy for cancer treatment, and the people who have an autoimmune disease.

For organ transplant, immunosuppressive injections and drugs are given that increase the chance of SCC. The transplant patient is 100 times more likely to develop SCC are comparable to other people.
