Cryosurgery

Cryosurgery

This surgery is mostly used for the treatment of actinic keratoses. The dermatologist applies liquid nitrogen with a spray device to the growth. This freezes the growth of tissue without the requirement of cut.

Later the lesions or frozen skin may blister and become crusted and fall off. Temporary redness may also occur. Cryosurgery is useful for superficial basal cell carcinomas and SCC.
