People having bipolar disorder often go through highs and lows of mood swings which are quite intense than normal changes in mood. Bipolar disorder patients suffer from long-lasting mood swings which mean that they might spend several days or weeks in depression or enjoying the life of a party. One day the patient having bipolar disorder feels over excitement, talking fast, doing destructive things, and not sleeping much. The excited phase of mood swings is known as the manic phase which sometimes also causes hallucinations making the patient to believe that unrealistic things are happening. Also, it is not uncommon that the same bipolar disorder patients feel too sad to get out of the bed for several days and weeks and go to work. Bipolar disorder patients feel suicidal, sad, anxious, unmotivated and this is known as the depressed phase of the disorder.
