Lichen planus is an inflammatory type of skin rash that can affect the mucous membranes and the skin. Lichen planus rash typically appears as itchy, purplish, bumpy, or flat-topped lesions. There is formation of lacy white patches around the mouth, vagina, and other areas having mucous membrane.
