Injuries and Trauma
If you received a direct hit or sharp trauma to your hands and then the pain started, the trigger of your symptoms is very clear for you and the doctor. It causes a sudden onset of pain, especially when there’s a fracture or an injury in the tendons or ligaments. In some cases, patients can have an apparently tiny cut, but it is very deep and may cause nerve damage or tendon divisions. Moreover, a cut can inoculate bacteria into the skin. When it is deep and close to an articulation, patients can develop septic arthritis and severe inflammation that only responds to antibiotic therapy.
A common cause of trauma in festivities is accidents with fireworks, which happen in children and adolescents but may also occur in adults. Regardless of the type of trauma, when it is deep and involves various tissues, it is more likely to leave long-lasting consequences in hand range of motion, recurrent hand pain, and others.
