Tendinitis

It is an inflammation of the tendon that causes this structure to become stiff, thick, and painful. Tendinitis usually occurs in the Achilles tendon, which gives you pain in the posterior part of the lower leg. But it can also happen in the patellar tendon (the tendon that connects the kneecap to the shinbone), which triggers shin splints or shin pain. Tendinitis is often caused by overuse but can also be caused by injury to the tendons.

  • Stress fracture: A stress fracture is a break in the bone due to a great deal of pressure on it. A stress fracture in the tibia can occur from wearing high heels or running on hard surfaces. The bones in the foot are more susceptible to this type of injury than other bones in the body. A stress fracture in the foot or tibia can cause pain and may prevent you from running
  • Chronic exertional compartment syndrome: This condition occurs when there is swelling in the muscles and tissue of the legs. When you exercise, your muscles swell with blood and fluid. Chronic exertional compartment syndrome happens when this extra fluid and blood remains in the muscles for too long. This increases muscle pressure, which can cause pain and muscle weakness. This condition is not common; sometimes, the pressure level on your muscles can become dangerous.
