Shoulder Pain: What You Should Know

Shooting or Radiating Shoulder Pain

This type of shoulder pain doesn’t stay in the same spot. It travels through your neck, your arms, or another part of the body. It is usually felt along with other symptoms, especially numbness, tingling, or a burning sensation. This type of pain happens when nerves are involved, especially in the case of pinched nerves. The symptoms travel along the course of the affected nerve, and patients may feel muscle weakness and other sensitive changes in the skin. Brachial plexus injuries and brachial plexus neuritis may also trigger this symptom. The former is caused by trauma, and the latter results from inflammation.

  • Burning shoulder pain: This feature of shoulder pain can be added to any of the above. It is a sensation of heat in the articulation. When you feel the shoulder joint is warm, it is probably because you have inflammation in the articulation. There’s an autoimmune condition or an inflammatory response to try to repair the tissue. This happens in rheumatoid arthritis, and you can see the articulation swelling sometimes. It also occurs in shoulder bursitis. If you have an infection in the joint, which is known as reactive arthritis, the articulation may feel warm, and you may even have fever.
