Some skin rashes also form a fluid-filled lesion or sac known as bulla that bulges out when there is accumulation of fluid under a thin layer of a person’s skin. Bullae are a type of blisters and are usually larger than 5 millimeters in diameter. The formation of bullae with milky appearance of the fluid inside it is the indication of infection. A trauma or excessive scratching on a blister can also lead to the formation of bullae which might contain blood. The skin around the blisters shows slight inflammation and there is presence of fever in rare cases. Sometimes, it is important to drain the blisters by visiting a doctor’s clinic as it might get infectious.
