How To Prevent Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of pain, and it can be found in your heels or another part of your foot. This injury develops from irritation and inflammation of the plantar fascia, a long band of tissue extending out of the heel bone. Pain is usually felt along the bottom of the heel, especially during and after exercise. Plantar fasciitis can also cause stiffness after walking for several miles.
To prevent plantar fasciitis, you can do the following:
- Use the correct shoes: You should use shoes that fit well, are comfortable, and have adequate support. If you wear shoes with an improper fit, your feet will be forced to bend in an unnatural way when you walk or stand. This constant stress on your feet can lead to the development of painful conditions.
- Change your pace: The risk of developing plantar fasciitis increases as you speed up your pace while walking. If you have a job that requires you to work at a fast pace or stand for long periods, take frequent breaks throughout the day to give your body time to recover.
- Get enough rest: As much as possible, ensure you get adequate sleep each night. Your body needs at least eight hours of restful sleep each night to function correctly.
- Get enough exercise: Exercise is a great way to maintain and strengthen your muscles. It also helps to increase blood flow to your feet. However, remember that pain from plantar fasciitis is made worse by exercise, so you need to find the right balance between rest and exercise and don’t overdo it.
