- Mild: shown by the occurrence of almost 1 microaneurysm
- Severe (4-2-1): Categorize by microaneurysms and hemorrhages in 4 quadrants, having venous beading in almost 2 intraretinal and quadrants microvascular abnormalities in almost 1 quadrant
