Scientists are still learning the cause and some risk factors of Tourette syndrome (TS) in such a way to understand it way better, and also trying to find good ways to manage the symptoms of Tourette syndrome and to lower the chance of any person having TS. However, the causes of Tourette syndrome (TS) and other tic disorders are still not understood completely. Some researches reveal that TS is a genetic complex disorder that is more likely to occur as a result to impact the multiple genes while interacting with some other factors present in the environment.
Therefore, scientists are studying other possible reasons and the risk factors of the environment that may contribute to Tourette syndrome. So, some studies show that the following are the factors that might link with Tourette syndrome but additional studies are required to know these links in a better way:
- Pregnancy complications
- Smoking while pregnancy
- Low birth weight
