Pale stools
Yet another symptom associated with the increase of bilirubin levels in the blood. Our stools have a dark yellow colour and may even reach a brownish colour due to the concentration of bilirubin and how it changes after having contact with the gut microbiota. Thus, having pale stools is another sign pointing out at a hepatic problem, and this one takes a bit longer to develop. Since pale stools do not appear right away when gallstone patients report this symptom they would need extra lab tests to determine whether it is caused by a chronic blockade in the bile duct or an underlying viral disease.
