Heart diseases are referred to as conditions that affect a person’s heart. Conditions such as coronary artery disease, arrhythmias (heart rhythm problems), and heart defects are some common examples of heart diseases among others.

The term “heart disease” is often used interchangeably in the medical field with the term “cardiovascular disease.” Cardiovascular diseases generally refer to conditions in which blood vessels become narrow and blocked that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke. Various other heart conditions, such as those that affect your heart’s muscle, valves or rhythm also come under the umbrella of heart diseases
