Calcium stones
In order to prevent calcium stones formation, the doctor might prescribe a phosphate-containing preparation or a thiazide diuretic.
Uric acid stones
The doctor might prescribe zyloprim or aloprim to minimize uric acid levels in the urine and blood. Along with a medication to keep the urine less acidic. In certain cases, an alkalizing agent and allopurinol might dissolve the stones made of uric acid deposition.
Struvite stones
To avoid struvite stones, the doctor might prescribe strategies to keep the urine free from bacteria that might cause urinary tract infection. In rare cases, the long-term use of antibiotics in intermittent or small doses might help to achieve the goal of dissolving struvite stones.
