Conducting Behavioral Experiments
Clients are asked to predict what’s the possible outcome before beginning an anxiety-provoking task in a behavioral experiment. After the client completes the task, you discuss whether or not their prediction was accurate. People often find that the catastrophe they initially imagined is unlikely to happen after conducting a series of behavioral experiments. Behavioral experiments can often relieve anxiety.
Desensitizing Systematically
Desensitization involves both relaxation and exposure to a stressful situation. In anxious situations, clients are taught to stay relaxed.
