Panic and anxiety can be treated with this technique. Fear is elicited by exposing a person to bodily sensations that they fear. Unhelpful beliefs related to the sensations can be activated by such action, sensations are maintained without avoidance or interruption, and new learning about the sensations can be accomplished.

This is intended to assist the sufferer’s view that panic symptoms are not necessarily dangerous, even if they can be uncomfortable.
