Plantar fasciitis is also commonly present in older adults. In elder people, the issue is usually more of a biomechanical nature, it often has a relation with poor intrinsic muscle strength and a reduced ability of the body to heal. In addition, there is poor force attenuation in older people which is secondary to acquired flat feet. Patients upon examination generally have a point of maximal tenderness around the anteromedial region of the calcaneus. The stabbing pain as a result of plantar fasciitis might increase by the passive dorsiflexion of the toes or when the patient stands on his toe tips.
