People who have structural foot issues such as having flat feet or high-arched feet are also at higher risk of developing plantar fasciitis. In addition, some people with the condition of tight Achilles tendons are also more prone to get tears or damage to plantar fascia i.e., the ligament supporting the arch of the feet. Achilles tendons are the structures that attach the calf muscles to the heels of the feet, the stiffness of these tendons can cause tiny tears on the surface of the plantar fascia. As a result, the tiny tears can bring on inflammation and pain that extends from the heel towards the outside of the feet.
