Cor pulmonale
Cor pulmonale is a major complication of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema. It is sometimes known as right-sided heart failure.
Cor pulmonale is caused by increased blood pressure in pulmonary artery leading to the enlargement and eventual failure of the right side of the heart. Cor pulmonale is treated with oxygen, medications and surgery.
