Swelling of legs and ankles
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients are prone to swelling in their ankles, legs and feet. In fact, COPD patient’s chronic bronchitis or emphysema is not the main culprit behind this symptom. Instead, complications of COPD called “pulmonary hypertension” and “cor pulmonale” can result in extreme edema of legs and ankle. If you observe that your legs and ankles have swollen, give a quick visit to your doctor so that he can evaluate the condition to look out for the potential cause.
