Anemia
Anemia of chronic disease (ACD) is the predominant mechanism of anemia related to chronic systemic inflammation of COPD. Prevalence of anemia in the general population increases with age and COPD is a disease that affects the aging population. Therefore, anemia in COPD may also be related to the aging process. Your doctor may order full blood count after suspecting any signs of anemia along with other respiratory symptoms.
