Meningitis
Meningitis means inflammation of the meninges. It refers to the inflammation and swelling of the membranes around the brain and spinal cord. There are multiple causes of meningitis. Some common ones include an infection caused by bacteria or a virus.
Meningitis secondary to bacterial infection can be severe and sometimes life-threatening. Most cases of bacterial meningitis cause neck pain and stiffness. Besides these symptoms, the other ones include;
- Fever
- Headache
- Sensitivity to light
- Nausea
- Vomiting
