Enhancing Other Treatments
Immunotherapy reinforces and supports the other cancer treatments such as radiation therapy and chemotherapy when we use it in combination with other treatments. The reason behind the success of the combination therapies treatment is that there is more killing of malignant cells. Immunotherapy creates an inflammatory response that moves T cells towards the cancer to bring more white blood cells. The checkpoint inhibitors disable the checkpoint pathways for immune response and reverse the immune attack. The checkpoint inhibitors mainly attacks on the tumor that the immune system recognizes as hot tumor and do not invade the healthy cells.
