Bladder cancer
In case of bladder cancer, the patients with moderate to severe disease often get intravesical immunotherapy by using a weaker and live bacterium bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG). BCG is one of the first immunotherapy treatments on the FDA approved list and it works remarkably to reduce the recurrence of bladder cancer. BCG stimulates the immune system to produce an immune response that attacks the bacteria also the nearby cancer cells in bladder. Almost 70% of the patients having bladder cancer enter remission after getting BCG immunotherapy.
