The doctor might suggest a kidney biopsy that involves removing a sample of tissues from a patient’s kidney. The doctors perform a kidney biopsy under local anesthesia by inserting a thin, long tube through the skin into patient’s kidney. The kidney tissue sample then goes to a lab for further examination to help determine the cause of kidney disease. There are two types of biopsies for kidney disease i.e., a laparoscopic and percutaneous biopsy. The doctor decides which type of biopsy is best-suited for a patient.
