Crackles or Cracking Sounds
These are characteristic sounds that produce when air travels through a fluid-filled cavity. Crackles are only audible with a stethoscope when placed on the lungs from the chest or backside and indicate an accumulation of excess fluid and secretions in the lungs. These sounds can be present in both acute as well as chronic bronchitis.
