Childhood trauma
Childhood trauma is also likely to be an involved factor in forming schizophrenia. Some people having schizophrenia experience hallucinations relating to neglect or abuse they experienced as children. People also tend to have schizophrenia if as children they experienced permanent separation or death of each or both parents. This type of trauma is tied to several other adverse early experiences, so still; it is not clear if this trauma is leading to schizophrenia or just linked with the condition.
Other causes might be:
- Family relationships
- Previous use of a drug
- Stress
- Alcohol use
