Silvery Scales

The appearance of a red rash commonly occurs in the early phases of psoriasis that is usually followed by silvery-white scales. These scales are formed by the dead skin cells and their accumulation over a few days give them silver hue. The most sites of these scales include the neck, chest, and scalp. The surface layer of scales easily flake away on rubbing,; however, those just beneath tend to cling together. Aggressively picking them up can cause bleeding, stimulation of skin cells turnover and spread of the rash on the surrounding area.
