Pus-filled Blisters
This is a more advanced feature of psoriasis that typically develops after the red rash and silvery scales. This stage is characterized by swollen patches of skin cells and pus-filled bumps. It is more common in a sub-type of psoriasis called pustular psoriasis.
These blisters often get painful due to the accumulation of dead white blood cells, skin tissue, and cellular debris. The most site of psoriatic blisters is the surface on the palms of the hands or soles of the feet. Depending on the severity, pustular psoriasis is further divided into three types. Von Zumbusch pustular psoriasis is one of the most severe and life-threatening types that can cause fever, chills, fatigue, rapid pulse, loss of appetite, severe itching, and muscle weakness. Left untreated, it can lead to severe health complications and even death.
Furthermore, scratching the blisters can not only spread the infection further, but makes it difficult for the medicines to act and treat the condition effectively.
