Iliotibial band syndrome is a condition referring to the swelling of a thick band of fibers, i.e., the Iliotibial band that runs along the outer side of the thigh. Iliotibial band syndrome usually causes inflammation, burning sensation, and aching pain on the outer side of the knee joint. The inflammation of Iliotibial band is most prevalent among the runners due to the excessive use of the knee joint.
