Collateral Ligament Injury

The collateral ligaments i.e., the medial and lateral collateral ligaments are present on the sides of the knee and attach the femur bone to the shin bone. An injury to the medial collateral ligament is known as an MCL injury which appears due to the direct hit to the outer side of the knee causing pain on the inner side of the knee. A hit or injury to the inner side of the knee causes lateral collateral ligament (LCL) injury which results in pain to the outer side of the knee.
