Trauma or accident
Trauma or accidents that affect the wrist may lead to carpal tunnel syndrome. It may cause bone fraction, dislocation, or bruises, which may compress the median nerve.
Edema
It is a condition characterized by water retention under the skin and in some tissues. Carpal tunnel has a lining called synovium, which can become inflamed or edematous and causes the narrowing of the carpal tunnel leading to median nerve compression.
