Human papillomavirus (HPV) may cause cancers of the cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal, penile, and oropharyngeal system. In reality, HPV is responsible for 99 per cent of cervical cancer and causes 70 to 80 percent of oropharyngeal cancers. Another example of a potentially cancer-causing virus is hepatitis B which increases the risk of liver cancer.
Practice safe sex to reduce the risk of diseases that are sexually transmitted. If you’re 26 years old or younger, get the HPV vaccine and know who should be vaccinated against hepatitis B.
