In some women with uterine fibroids, the growths can result in constipation. The reason behind is that the uterus is present directly in front of the distal end of the colon that controls bowel movements. The fibroids that grow in the last regions of the uterus can compress the colon from the outer side which can lead to severe constipation. Fibroids in uterus can indirectly and directly result in constipation in majority of the women. In addition, women taking iron supplements for the anemic condition resulting due to uterine fibroids might also lead to constipation.
