Rheumatoid nodules
This is a characteristic symptom that can only be found in rheumatoid arthritis. They are lumps found in areas of friction and pressure points, and they occur in approximately 20% of rheumatoid arthritis patients. These nodules are a combination of fibrous tissue in the center surrounded by inflammatory cells. They can also appear in soft tissues and organs such as the liver, kidneys, and lungs.
